“If These Walls Could Talk” – Boston Derby Dames

The walls of Skybokx 109 feature a collection of classic photos and rare memorabilia celebrating the history and character of Boston sports. Each of these photos and artifacts tell a unique story. Our most recent installment in the “If These Walls Could Talk” series also celebrates Women’s History Month.

Boston Derby Dames was the Boston area’s first women’s roller derby league, founded in 2005. It has since been re-branded as Boston Roller Derby in a move the league determined was made “to better reflect the diversity of our community.”

Boston Roller Derby is a flat-track roller derby league based in Boston, Massachusetts. The league is a founding member of the Women’s Flat Track Derby Association (WFTDA). The league’s all-star team, the Boston Massacre, was one of the top 25 WFTDA Division 1 teams in the world.

Boston Roller Derby is skater-owned and -operated, sporting more than 70 full-time skaters who both skate and work as part of their duties. BRD plays at Aleppo Shriners Auditorium in Wilmington for all home team games and Simoni Ice Rink in Cambridge for its all-star match-ups against rival teams from around the world.
